Aphex Twin Peaks is a Tiktok account I operate and edit under. It capitalizes on a niche community based on the show "Twin Peaks," an American surrealist mystery-horror drama television series created by David Lynch and Mark Frost. Since July 23rd, 2025, the day I started posting edits regularly, the account has amassed nearly 600k views, 142k likes, 777 comments, 12k shares, and 1,193 followers across various genders, age groups, and countries.
This page is set to cover the journey of the account and the specifics of each individual video. Links to each video can be found at the end of the text or by clicking on the accompanying images.

Around July of 2024, I decided I wanted to try my hand at editing for Tiktok, making short videos for my favorite TV show, Twin Peaks. I created the account "AphexTwinPeak" to create short, ironic, semi-abstract edits of various Twin Peaks scenes to make them funny.
Unfortunately, this never really took off. Most of the edits I was doing would either get copyright banned immediately or just never really take off. It was a style that was clearly not working, despite my numerous attempts. So, after about two weeks of trying, I gave up on posting. I had amounted less than 20 likes across the board.
(The image to the left was taken more recently, so view/like count does not reflect the originally poor numbers.)
On July 23rd, 2025, I decided I wanted to give it another go, this time landing on a more serious style of video. The video, titled "twin peaks solace," was based on an edit I had seen of The Shining to an unreleased Earl Sweatshirt song titled "Solace." The song was known for its eerie and layered piano ballad, making it perfect to capture the horror side of the Twin Peaks universe.
In this edit, I employed fades, opaque layers, strobe lights, reverse footage, and audio editing to create an off-putting reaction. The video, while not completely taking off, did get over 1,000 views in its first day--more than I had ever gotten on any edit I posted previously. For me, it was a sign of hope and inspiration to keep creating videos under this newer, serious moniker. The edit can be found here.

After finishing "The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer," a book about a main character of Twin Peaks written by Jen Lynch, an author, director, and the daughter of David Lynch, the co-creator of Twin Peaks, I decided I wanted to make an edit to one of the passages I considered the most moving. I found the audiobook on YouTube narrated by Sheryl Lee, the actress for Laura Palmer, set the video to a slowed version that I created of "Ending" by jung jaeil, the final track of the Parasite score, and added simple subtitles that correlated to the visual montage I created.
The video immediately resonated with fans, and went onto become one of my biggest videos, garnering over 42,000 likes and 170,000 views in the month it's been uploaded. It was an edit that clearly left an emotional impact on fellow Twin Peaks fans. One such person said that this was a "beautiful edit. could just be a trailer for the whole show." Another asked "why are you making me cry?" However, the most impactful comment to me was the one from Jen Lynch herself, which reads "Hooray! People are enjoying The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer!"
The edit had reignited my fire for editing, and so I continued, hoping to find similar success. The edit can be found here.

This success did not continue to my next video, which abruptly did not take off, and has been my worst performing video since I decided to make more serious videos, garnering a measly 1.6k views and only 125 likes. The edit was set to a new song by Quadeca entitled "Natural Causes," and was a montage with visuals correlating to lyrics of the song. It was too simple, and therefore it was rewarded with very little attention. Though, with the few fans it did reach, it did leave an impact.
I was beginning to worry that the success I found with my "The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer" edit would be lightning in a bottle, with a reach that I would not be able to recapture. The edit can be found here.

The next edit, entitled "Dougie's eyes were like his" was a comedic edit following the (at the time) current trend of editing two characters, sometimes the same character at different points in their lives, to "Billie Jean" by Micheal Jackson, specifically the verse around the line "His eyes were like mine." The edit, while not as big, was a return to form, garnering over 14k likes and 72k views.
The video itself involves synched frame manipulation, on-screen lyrics, as well as a visual motion effect of the younger Dale Cooper's eyes over the eyes of his older counterpart. Many people enjoyed it, with one person calling it "one of the best twin peaks edits," and another saying that it "is absurdly good." The edit can be found here.

After that edit, I returned to a more somber tone like the edits that came before it in the edit entitled "brings back some memories," a line spoken by Bobby Briggs in the third season of Twin Peaks. This edit, surprisingly, ended up being another big hit, garnering 28k likes and over 110k views.
The edit involved a revamping of my subtitling style, going for a subtler font and yellow text. The short montage was backed by the song "The Sound of Myself" off of the Marcel the Shell with Shoes On soundtrack. The edit pulled from two separate audio clips of Bobby Briggs delivering a speech which clearly resonated with many fans, with some talking about how they related to the character or how they felt this speech was important to comprehending the themes. With the next edit, "The Beauty of Twin Peaks," I was following another trend surrounding the song "Every Living Breathing Moment," a grand orchestral track by Grant Seller that fans of various media would make dramatic edits to to demonstrate the beauty of their favorite media. The video, while underperforming comparatively to some of my other Tiktoks, only getting about 10k likes and 36k views, resonated immensely with the audience that did end up seeing it, with many calling the "best twin peaks edit I've ever seen" or that it was a "masterpiece." Jen Lynch herself recently called it "Truly beautiful."
The edit, while just a simple compilation, required me to sift through hours of footage, looking for my favorite shots and moments from the show, organize them based on which part of the show they came from through color-coding, and matching them to the tempo of the surrounding clips as well as the rhythm of the song. The edit also included iconic dialogue from the show with accompanying subtitles. The edit captures the entire picture of Twin Peaks and presents it in the longest edit I crafted for this page, clocking in at 1 minute 41 seconds. The edit can be found here

The next edit ended up being my most complex yet. Following another trend around the song "a good man with a broken heart" by LoVibe, a beat-heavy song that made it perfect for timed edits, my edit "it is happening again" involved many moving parts and complex layering, combining complex rhythms through sound designed foley synching up with the beat, as well as fractured frames becoming their full picture with the beat, and a looping effect on the video itself to fully bring the symbolism together.
The edit, despite the time I spent working on it, ended up being one of my most unsuccessful with around 5.5k likes and 20k views. Despite that, many people got a lot of enjoyment, like Jen Lynch, who said that she "keep[s] coming back to watch it again" or another viewer who called it "a genuinely satisfying and beautiful edit" to multiple viewers calling it the "best twin peaks edit [they've] ever seen." The edit can be found here.

In trying to capture a different style under the genre "Analog Horror," I created numerous graphics, complex layered effects in 13 separate video tracks , and detailed sound design to emulate the Analog VHS feel. Ultimately, I felt the video to be rushed and would not match the audience, so I decided against posting it. The edit can be watched here.

Disappointed with the lack of engagement on the previous two edits, both of which I spent a lot of time working on, I returned to a form that made me successful, pulling another passage from "The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer" by Jen Lynch and using a trending song, "tower of memories" by ivri to create a saddening edit. The edit, while being posted on Jen Lynch's story and garnering a lot of attention on its first day because of that, the edit ultimately petered out quickly, currently standing at 2.6k likes and almost 10k views. The video itself was a simple montage to lyrics, involving some complex layering in the final clip and a typing effect at the beginning. The edit can be found here.

My next edit was based purely on the fact that I had always wanted to see a Twin Peaks edit set to Minecraft music. So, I did it myself, creating "twin peaks ambience," a calm, slow montage showcasing various landscapes and settings from Twin Peaks set to the track "Subwoofer Lullaby" by C418. While this edit did not take off, with a total of around 600 likes and 3.5k views, the edit allowed me to capture a slower pacing of edits that Tiktok usually does not reward. After facing middling views and even feeling unconfident in posting a completed edit, I decided to go all out on an edit. "Twin Peaks x Neon Genesis Evangelion" is an edit that combines the visuals and aesthetic of Twin Peaks and transforms it into the fast-paced and action-packed Neon Genesis Evangelion opening credits, crossing over two iconic shows of the nineties.
The edit is a combination of everything that I had learned so far across this account. I created numerous graphics. For the recreation of the intro, I synched up the clips to the frame of the original opening. It involved some layered effects and various transitions from fades to dips to black. The video is fast paced and exciting, with each clip matching a similar energy to the original opening.
The complexity of the edit was finally reflected in the analytics of the video, which ended up being my biggest video yet as in just two days since uploading, the video currently stands at almost 48k likes and over 200k views, with many calling it not just the best Twin Peaks edit ever, but one of the best edits overall that they've seen. Some even mentioned how it may have inspired them to finally watch Twin Peaks. The edit can be found here.
